cartoons

Today, i was searching for something interesting to watch and on one ftp server i ended up with many-many episodes of 'tom and jerry'. My lucky day, i guess!!

I was always fascinated by cartoon serials. That fascination is still there. Its a part of me which relates to my childhood and ill try my best to keep that fascination alive. Well, the story begins with 'The jungle book'. It was aired on doordarshan every sunday morning, that time i was in second standard. It was the only motivating factor to get up early in the morning. Entire week i used to wait for the sunday to come. At that age, Mogli was my hero. His fight with sherkhan, his family, his friends everything was very interesting.

After 'the jungle book', there was a series of all new cartoon on doordarshan. 'Duck tales', 'Tales spin', 'The little mermaid' and many more. Among cartoon characters, i really like Donald duck. Specially his habit of taking punga with bees, ants and squirrels. Besides, there is Cruze Mcdonald with his three nephews, mickey mouse and his doggy pluto. To be frank, i like all of them. Placing one above other is a difficult task for me.

With time many things change. Today there are several channels dedicating 24 hrs to cartoons. Now, kids dont have to wait for sundays to come to watch cartoons. But me really enjoyed that wait for sundays.

Whenever i am back to home, most of the time i spend watching cartoon network. These days, among the favourites are, 'Spider man' and 'tom and jerry'. With new collection of many-many episodes of 'tom and jerry' on my comp, i guess, its going to be a night out, tonight!!

counselling days

Until yesterday campus was kind of, vacant. Being vacations, there are very few people on campus, but suddenly campus is crowded. Crowded with lot of new people. Take a stroll along main road and you will notice a family, a mom, a dad and a young man who has cracked JEE this year, exploring the campus and searching for someone who could answer few of their queries. Yes, you guessed it correctly, its the counseling time for the newly entering batch. These are very special days in the life of these students. These are the days which are going to decide their future course of life.

Since last few days, i had few calls, few mails from the students, who want the info like, which is the best iit?? Which are top departments in iits?? preference should be give to b. tech curriculum or dual degree?? etc etc. These are the same question i asked to many peaople, four years back. Many people helped me to decide my branch, my iit. Today, i wish to thank them all. I feel like, its my responsibility to pass on that information to upcoming batch.

So, next three days are going to be kind of busy for me. Besides, ddp first stage presentation is in near future. Yet, lot of work to be done. I am running out of time. Kash din mein 25 ghante hote :D.

french open 2006

Day-12 at Roland Garros was full of excitement. Center court was overcrowded and many more round the world were looking forward for the one match, Svetlana Kuznetsova Vs Nicole Vaidisova.

Nicole Vaidisova, a Czek teenager, Seventeen year old and 16th seed in french open, emerged as Giant Killer, knocking out top seeded Amelie Mauresmo and Wimbledon champion Venus Williams in successive matches to enter the semi-final. Stage was set for another history in making. If she could hold-on her winning stake for two more matches then she will become the second youngest winner of the French Open after Monica Seles, who was 16 when she won the clay court Grand Slam in 1990.

Back to center court. For first two sets, for more that 2 hours Vaidisova was dominant. At one point she had a significant lead of 1 set and she was serving for the match when it was 5-4 in the second set. But Kuznetsova broke that serve and snatched second set away from her after a tough tie breaker. Now set score was, 1-1. In first game of third set, Kuznetsova broke Vaidisova's serve one more time and this was the turning point of match. Then, it was visible that being less experienced, Czek was finding it difficult to hold back at that point. She made few mistakes at some crucial points and finally lost third set with 6-2.

In Kuznetsova's words, "
I think I benefited from my experience. I've played more often on centre court than she has and I knew it was possible to turn the match around ".

This way, Nicole's journey at Roland Garros ended. But as it is said, one journey is ended in the start of another. Its just the beginning in her life. I wish to see her, lifting some grand slam trophy, soon. No matter, what happened on day-12, its beyond doubt that she is the star of
this year's French Open!

Well, about men's singles,
this year, one interesting thing happened in French Open. Top four seeds managed to be among top four contenders at Roland Garros. Both semi final matches are scheduled today. My prediction is that, top two seeds will manage their way to the final. So, i am expecting the final match between world no. 1 Roger federer and spaniard Rafael Nadal.

I think, this year's greatest upset is going to be in the final, when Nadal will beat Federer. Anyone ready to bet??

cricket

Today morning was just a usual morning but unlike any other morning today we had some different plans. We decided to play cricket. I was going to play this game after many many days. I even dont remember the last time i played cricket. When i was a kid, we used to play cricket every day. That time life was simple. We had plenty of time. But it was long back. Today we decided that nothing was going to stop us from playing cricket.

Although, we decided to reach on ground at 6 am. but it was 6:30 by the time we reached there. In all we were 20 students and majority of us were fifthies. So we decided to play fifth-yearites Vs rest. We won the toss and elected to bat first. There was lot of moisture on pitch and slow out-field, because of dew on grass. Still, we elected to bat first.

So, finally all formalities done and match started. On the very first ball of inning we lost our star batsman. After that, responsibility was on the shoulders of Ashok, who played considerably well. He played some fantastic shots and our score was rising. Soon we lost another wicket and it was the time when i stepped in to bat. I played a decent inning. Scored a boundary. Played few nice shots. Everything was going fine. I was enjoying it. But then something happened. Something very unfortunate. I was expecting that ball to bounce but it didnt. And i was out. I was clean bowled. At the end, we reached a score of 54 in 15 overs.

Then it was time for other team to bat. We didn't had a good bowling line-up and as sun was rising in the east, pitch was dry by this time. So, other team had natural advantage and they utilised it fully. We lost the match in 10th over. As far fielding is concerned, i did it well. Although i dropped a catch but hey, so what?? Even Jonty drops catch sometimes.

All-in-all, it was a great game. We didn't had our cricketing career at the stake of this match. We didn't had girls among audiance to impress. All we had was lots and lots of fun. And thats why we were there!!

seven days to go

These days nothing happening in my life!! Everything is going on as a routine. I woke up early (around 11:30) in the morning, then the search begins. Search for food. With all messes on campus, on vacation, my life these days is pretty messed up. After that i spend some time in lab. Evenings are busy in chatting with friends. Thanks to yahoo! messenge. After dinner few more hours of Lukha and then i go to bed. Next day, its the same story again. To be frank, these days, there is nothing much inspiring me, to get out of bed.

What i really need is a Change and i can see light at the end of tunnel. Stage is set, tickets are booked and seven more days to go before our rajasthan trip!! Yes, me and few of my friends going to Udaipur on next weeked. Mahim's sister getting married on 12th june and we are going to celebrate the occasion there, with his family, friends and relatives. Besides that, we are planning to visit few places around. As far, i am concerned, much excited about this trip. First time ever, i am going out of maharashtra. This is going to be a memorable event in my life.

Amidst all these things, ill be back on track of extra curricular activities. This time, i am going to involve myself with 'Pankhudi'. Pankhudi is a platform for the people who have zeal to do something for the lesser priviliged children. Really impressed with the idea behind Pankhudi. Tomorrow, we have some work to do, related to Pankhudi. Finally, i have some reason to get out of bed. Before that, i need to sleep now. shubh ratri.
